When people put themselves into their posts - and I'm not talking over-sharing or being over-vulnerable, here - just their own thoughts, opinion, personality - it unsettles them.

That's why AI is so seductive, it will write something on-subject for you without any of that pesky personality or personal insight that unsettles you. And that's where the beige comes in.

Because AI gives with one hand and takes away with the other.

 'I'm not sure I remember what I actually sound like anymore.' Over the past few months, my business partner Andrew has spoken to a lot of people while planning and creating our first summit, and the fear of people being themselves was a really common theme... but so was people's fear of losing their voice to AI.

One thing all of our Beyond the Beige speakers have in common is the fundamental belief that your voice and lived experience are the only real competitive advantage you've got left in a post-AI world.

I agree - and remain as conflicted as ever about AI as I've ever been. The author in me hates it and would never let it intrude on my creativity. The businessman in me loves it and all the possibilities it offers. The pragmatist in me knows Pandora's box is open so the job now is to play my part in steering its use into the 'right' ways.
