How AI tool priorities work

Four separate inputs

Observed visibility is what Ghostart found in sampled answers. Estimated significance is a qualitative judgement about a tool's relevance to a buying context. Your priority is a preference you supply. Opportunity priority is an explained suggestion about a gap to investigate.

Changing your preferred tools changes the contextual view. It does not alter past samples, the visibility score, your plan or the existing work queue.

Where the estimates come from

The first release matches UK consumer product discovery and US B2B product research. Other markets, mixed buyer types and unsupported tools show unknown. High and medium bands are Ghostart's judgement; they are not survey shares converted into sales weights.

Forrester's UK consumer research, published 7 April 2026, uses February 2026 self-reported product discovery. Its public summary supports a relative comparison between ChatGPT and Perplexity, not purchase attribution.

Semrush's US B2B research, published 8 July 2026, reports findings from 519 respondents who used AI for work, drawn from 622 valid responses in March–April 2026. It is vendor research and does not represent all buyers.

Both summaries were checked on 8 October 2026. Estimates expire on 8 January 2027 unless reviewed in a later methodology release. Reports keep the evidence version and date used when they were prepared.

Focus and Watch

The contextual view looks for gaps on discovery, comparison and buying questions in your selected tools or tools with high matched significance. It excludes questions naming your business and answers that fail the evidence checks.

Focus needs at least three eligible answers over at least two sampling dates, with your business named in fewer than half. Watch means more evidence is needed. No sampled answers is unknown, not an absence. A one-run report normally offers Watch, rather than a claim about a persistent gap.

The view orders Focus before Watch, then your selected tools, then sample breadth. It shows why each gap appears. These provisional rules supplement the work queue and do not create drafts or start work automatically.

What this cannot tell you

It does not measure every buyer's conversation, predict revenue, attribute a visibility change to published content, or guarantee a recommendation. Google's distinct surfaces do not inherit Gemini's significance. Preferences do not unlock tools or increase sampling.
